These pulses involve a certain value, usually the energy pulse count connected to the digital input of the RTU for accumulating pulses. These pulse counter values are sent to the main station. Read pulses at fixed intervals on the digital input board, and then at the end of each sampling cycle, read all pulse count values in the RTU. The pulse counter values are timestamped and transmitted to the main station, which stores them in the database. Pulse inputs with blocked pulse counter values will not be scanned or sent to the main station.
The RTU only stores the number of pulses in its database. The main station scales the pulse counter value and stores it in its database for internal use. Then, the value related to the process (such as energy) is obtained by multiplying the number of pulses by the value represented by each pulse, which is usually referred to as the “value of each pulse”
The counter can be reset to zero at the end of the cycle reading, for example once an hour, or never reset as long as the device is not restarted. For supervision purposes, before storing new readings in the database, perform checks to ensure that previously stored values have been transferred. If an error occurs (such as input board failure), the counter value will be marked as invalid before being transmitted to the main station.
