The simple scheme outlined above is suitable for static displays, where NPBU-42 graphics images are uploaded relatively infrequently to the display and may use flickering to provide some animation effects. However, by fully utilizing more user-defined fonts, highly artifact free image processing can be achieved. There are 24 user-defined font positions available, but in reality, only 4 (non flickering) or 8 (flickering) font positions are needed to store the displayed graphic images. Additional font positions can be used for preloading graphic frameworks. A graphic frame is a complete display image stored in the display driver for display. The 24 user-defined fonts NPBU-42 allow the display driver to store 3 complete graphics frames (one of which is already displayed) and perform flicker control at the pixel level (Table 4), or store 6 complete frames without flicker control (Table 3). Pre loading is a technique of sending image data to the display driver before it needs to be displayed.
